Why do I attend First Baptist Church of Lawrence?

I have been a lifelong Baptist. I enjoy the church family, the music, and being able to experience the challenges of learning the Christian life.

News and Upcoming Events

Sanctuary of the Cinema

Once each month, we meet to view and discuss movies led by our own film buff Chad Johnston.  We have watched various genres of movies including documentaries, animated films, science fiction, and drama.  Previous movies include: "Up", "In the Realms of the Unreal", "A.I.", "Bigger, Stronger, Faster", "Italian for Beginners".  The next meeting is March 14th at 6:30 in the Judson Room of the church.  For more information, call the church at 785-843-0020.

Family Promise Week

As Family Promise partners, we will be hosting our family promise guests during March 14-21, 2010.  For those unfamiliar with Family Promise, it is a national program that connects local area churches to provide shelter, food, and support services.  Along with church partners, Family Promise focuses on four other programs to provide holistic approach to poverty.  For more information, visit their website at http://www.familypromise.org.

Food Pantry

Food demands have increased dramatically. Please consider buying something extra for the pantry each time you shop for groceries. We are in particular need of canned soup or fruit, cereal, toilet paper and paper towels. Our thanks to those who so generously give to FBC Food Pantry. If you would like to donate items, please call or stop by the church office, 843-0020. Our Food Pantry is open Monday & Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. to Noon.
