Why do I attend First Baptist Church of Lawrence?

I attend FBC because of the spiritually educating atmosphere. I first came with my parents, but was never motivated to leave. The friendly and welcoming faces have become almost a parallel to a family, and are welcoming to those coming for the first or 1000th time.

Points of Interest

New Hymnal

We are purchasing new, updated hymnals that celebrate our Baptist Heritage. If you would like to help by donating a hymnal in memory or honor of someone, please contact the church office for details.

Fall Programs

Our fall programs are getting underway! American Baptist Student Fellowship at KU has started meeting weekly for KU students throughout the semester. ABY for youth has started meeting every Sunday night. Children's choirs are starting up in mid-September. Come join us for our exciting fall activities.

Check Us Out

Every Thursday at 7:30 and Friday at 7:00, we broadcast our Sunday morning service on cable channel 99. After checking out our service on TV, come visit us any Sunday to share in our community.

Connecting at First Baptist

We are an intergenerational congregation that seeks to find a place for everyone to connect.

Children

We take seriously the development and education of our children and their need to experience a community that is caring and nurturing. We provide regular Sunday School classes and summer programs. We also provide events and support for parents.

Youth

The First Baptist Youth Group is a group of diverse and committed 7th-12th graders who are seeking to learn what it means to follow Christ in their day to day life. We are learning how to love God and love our neighbors through study, prayer, worship, service, and fellowship. We are seeking to be the hands and feet of the body of Christ in this time and in this place.

We believe that there is no such thing as a lone ranger Christian. We need others around us who will model for us, encourage us, and help us be all of what God wants us to be. We hope that you will find a place and a people to help encourage you in your faith. If you don't have a place, then check us out.

College

At First Baptist we are committed to providing a place for college students to participate in the life of the church. Many of our college students hold leadership positions in different aspects of our ministry. We also are have fun and seek to become more connected with each other and with God.

Nifty Fifty Plus

Nifty Fifty Plus is a group of men and women aged fifty or over. They meet at the church the third Monday of each month at I:30 p.m, March through December.
